I have owned a few ice makers over the years and this is by far the best one I have owned. The side tank is a complete game changer for me because I no longer have to fill my ice maker daily with water. It is also the quietest one that I have owned. It has only been a couple of weeks since I have received it, but I am completely satisfied with the ice maker so far. I did purchase the warranty just in case there are any issues.

I looked over many, many ice makers before deciding on this beauty! I did my research on reviews, price, quality, warranty, type of ice, cleaning difficulty, and more. After days of reviews, I decided to buy this opal ice maker and I am SO glad I did! I appreciate the fact that this ice maker comes with the side reservoir so if I plan on needing a lot of ice, I dont have to worry about refilling the main reservoir over and over. The downside to the side reservoir is it gets slimy feeling inside the gray part faster than I'd prefer. I stopped using it when it started getting colder outside. We use a lot of ice in my home. We like ice in our daily drinks, but we also like smoothies often. The ice is perfect for the blender! The ice is very chewable for those who enjoy that! This purchase included one filter, one screen, and one descaling packet. I read in other reviews that the filter can strain the motor so I chose not to use it, and just use the screen. I only use bottled water in this so I dont have much worry about an extra filter. I did purchase a 6 pack of descaling packets. While I waited to get them, I did clean my machine with vinegar. I didn't notice a big difference in my ice, between being cleaned with the descaling powder and the vinegar. I love that the machine light will notify when its time to clean, but I also swipe my finger inside the water reservoir to feel for any slimy spots. If its slimy before it says its time to clean, I clean anyway. I also located a video on youtube that a guy shows beginning to end on how to take all the hoses inside the machine, and reservoirs, apart, clean, and put back together. It was about a 2 hour total process for him as experienced. I havent done that cleaning process yet. I wanted to wait about 6 months and do it twice a year with the descaling cleanings in between. I love seeing this beautiful machine sitting on my counter! The LED lights shining on the ice bin, the stainless steel, the side reservoir filled, it just looks beautiful! The pictures dont do it justice! I did decide to place it beside my sink for easier cleaning. It fits perfectly under my cabinets. Make sure you measure before you purchase! One more inch and mine wouldnt have fit. I enjoy that the ice will melt back into the reservoir of not used. The machine does not keep the ice cold. I open my ice bin anout 6 times a day. When I do, I usually have to use the scoop that came with the machine, to break up the ice a bit. I usually do that about 10 minutes before I want to get my ice out. That way, fresh ice is made when I'm ready. The ice will make when you push the bin into place. It'll stop when the bin is full or the reservoir needs filled. Ot only makes ice when the bin is opened and closed again. This ice is also perfect for keeping things cold. If you have a shrimp tray, its perfect! If you need to keep a bowl of something cold, fill a larger bowl with this ice and place the smaller bowl inside.
