GE Profile™ Opal™ 2.0 Ultra Nugget Ice Maker with Side Tank and Scale Inhibiting Filter

I have been wanting a Nugget Ice Maker for so long, this did not disappoint. It constantly makes ice and it does so fast, you can have ice within 30 minutes. It is a bit noisy but doesn't bother me, it is just as loud as a refrigerator . I use distilled water so my water always taste good.

We have had our Opal now for almost a month. We truly didn't realize almost we were missing with the nugget ice. It has turned out to be one of the best kitchen purchases in a long time. The Opal Ultra is very pretty on the counter and doesn't take up near the amount of space that I thought it would. Very easy to setup and the connection to my phone and Alexa was seamless. No error issues, just solid connections. I was up and producing ice in minutes. I have found that for our home we can set the routine on the machine to turn off at 8:30 pm and to run again at 7:00 am. Overnight I've seen where the ice doesn't melt fast, almost like it is insulated, for those few top offs in a glass. The bin holds more ice than needed for a 40 ounce tumbler, maybe enough to fill two. The ice maker works very fast and we haven't ran out of ice yet. I do wish the water reservoir was a little bigger as we have to fill it daily. I would like to see the reservoir last at least two or three days for the two of us. Maybe they will come out with an extra large one since the larger one is still small. The sanitizer light does come on rather than once a week to two times a week, which is fine. The descaling light came on yesterday and I promptly descaled the unit. Overall, cleaning the ice maker is relatively easy and not bad like I thought it would be. I placed the unit near the sink, so all I don't need to carry it very far. I do wish that GE would provide two filters and a 6 pack of cleaning/descaling solution for the hefty price that you pay for the unit itself. A mere 6 months of product like this would be a nice gesture. In the future I also hope they will come out with a larger reservoir for mete convenience. If we used more ice between the two of us, we would be filling the reservoir two or three times a day. Overall, I would definitely buy this ice maker again. The small nuances are nothing compared to the product itself. I did purchase the extended warranty for an extra two years. I hope to never need it but you never know. Appliances just are not made like they used to be and small appliances like ice machines may be more finicky. Time will tell. I do recommend the Opal 2.0 Ultra ice machine for any home. Be sure to get the one with the side tank plus the descaling filter like we did. The silver is absolutely beautiful in my kitchen.
