Give Re-spun a try. I think you will like it.

Re-spun is an economical bulky yarn that knits very easily and cleanly. Not as many fine little fibers that get caught when loom knitting as some other bulky yarns. Color choices are somewhat limited but the colors available are very pleasing. It has become one of my favorite yarns.
