This is a large one compact chair. The seat/cushioning is comfortable for an adult. The space saving comes from the narrow design of the arms allowing it to fit in tighter spaces that most recliners. For someone who wants to sleep in their chair, it lays back further than many recliners. Not completely flat, but close. It holds its position nicely in a sitting position, a "feet up watching TV" position or in the fully reclined position but does not hold at positions in between. We tried the massage feature first thing. It is not as invigorating as on at a salon, but has a nice lumbar massage that I will frequently use. Nice chair for the price
