Start on a low setting and gradually raise the setting. I started with 1 slice of bread on the middle setting and it burned. If you are doing something like cooking a frozen bagel the extra heat makes sense. Once I determined what settings I want for different jobs I was good. Glad I got this.

Most of what you pay here for is the aesthetic because there are cheaper toasters that perform just as well as this one however, if you're going to have a toaster that is always on the counter invisible and you don't want one that's an eyesore than this is a good route to go it looks much more expensive than it actually was but it doesn't offer any sort of special or advanced hosting features outside toasters and a much lower price point provide so this is a good purchase if you're looking for style, but nothing special about function
