Most makeup stools are designed with a seat height between 16 to 20 inches. This range works well with standard vanity tables, helping you sit comfortably while applying makeup or styling hair. Some stools offer adjustable height features, so you can customize the fit for your space. If you're pairing a stool with an existing vanity, it's a good idea to measure the table height and leave about 10-12 inches of space between the seat and the tabletop for leg comfort.

The ideal height for a vanity chair depends on your vanity table and personal preference. Generally, a seat height of 17 to 19 inches fits most vanity tables, allowing you to sit upright without straining your back. If your vanity is taller or shorter than average, consider a stool with adjustable height. This flexibility can help you find the most comfortable position for daily routines.

While there’s no single standard, most makeup stools are made to fit tables that are 28 to 30 inches high. A stool seat height of 16 to 20 inches is common, which provides enough space for your legs and keeps you at a good working height. If your table is higher or lower, look for stools with adjustable features to ensure a comfortable fit for your setup.

To choose the right stool height, start by measuring the distance from the floor to the underside of your vanity table. Subtract about 10 to 12 inches to find a comfortable seat height. This gap gives you enough legroom and helps prevent awkward posture. If multiple people will use the stool, or if you want extra flexibility, consider an adjustable-height stool for easy customization.

Adjustable makeup stools can be a great option if you want versatility. They let you change the seat height to match different vanity tables or personal comfort levels. This is especially helpful if your vanity is taller or if you share the space with others. Many adjustable stools also swivel, making it easier to move around while getting ready. Just be sure to check the adjustment range to ensure it fits your needs.
