The original one lasted a solid 5 years before a handle finally broke, which is a great lifespan for a plastic basket used constantly by a busy household. I'm hard to please when it comes to household items and I LOVE this. It's easy to maneuver. Not too wide to carry down my 3 flights of steps like the old ones where I would lose my balance or end up with bruises from hitting my arms… just a very good, very well made product.
