Coming from a cycling background and used to back bladders or bottles I had some trepidation with using a hydration vest, I thought it would be front heavy and bounce around. Having just run a 25k coastline trail run as a test, I have to say this vest is fantastic. I had both bottles full, bits of food in the front pockets, hat, gloves and lightweight jacket in the rear. The bottles stayed in place while running, especially on the descents. I didn't feel the extra kilo of weight with the bottles, it was well distributed. As a guide, I am 73kg and 187cm tall, skinny frame, I like to say lithe! The medium vest fitted perfect straight out of the bag, I didn't even adjust the straps on the front. I had no problems with rubbing on the neck or any issues with bruising by the bottles, I did wear a heart strap around my chest which may have provided some padding. I have nothing negative to say about this product, very lightweight and comfortable, I would recommend this vest and would definitely by another when required.

If you are a previous owner of a Salomon vest, you will want to really pay attention to the sizing chart for this item before you order a new one. Although there is a note which indicated "it's close fitting" this should be in bold. I have multiple vests which are mediums and the adjustments are so tight, the vest is basically overlapping itself in the middle of my chest, so I decided to go with one smaller size (my measurements would indicate this is the correct size to purchase), but this one is a drastic opposite which only allows me to utilize it on a very relaxed adjustment. I may end up trying another medium, as it appears that perhaps the sizing has changed from previous generations. If you have the ability to return it for another size then great, but otherwise be very sure on the measurements and like recommended, err on the side of caution on the larger size if you are questioning it. Fit aside, the functional pieces of the vest are on par with previous generations. The bottle adaption from the previous generation of flasks will take a little getting used to, but since they are closer in volume to the stated stats, and they are much easier to fill, refill and maintain shape, this should make up for the difference in my opinion. I would also recommend that you look closely at the images with respect to pockets, stashes, side zips, etc. I find many people say "Oh, I thought it would hold more stuff" but they didn't really realize what the capacity was in the first place, there are some great differences between each model from the 2, to 5, 12, etc. So be sure you will be able to comfortably carry all of your training items, race needs or day to day running extras when you head out the door. I like the racing red color above the others :)
