Read this before putting together.

Terrible instructions. They didn't differentiate the rough side from the finished side to be able to tell which way to put the boards. The top should have two finished sides and I didn't look at it. I assumed that they would have a finished side inside of the bookcase but instead they meant to have it on the outside so when you were standing over it, it would look finished, but from a child's point of view, it would be unfinished on the inside. The board for the back is very thin and fragile. It tore about 4 inches just trying to lay it on the back side so I could nail it on. All in all it's a nice looking piece at that price point, but they fell short where it mattered and it wouldn't cost much to fix those problems. Just a little bit of ink in the instructions and finishing both sides of the top board and it would've been a really awesome piece of furniture for that price point.
