Decent buy

This moisture meter works surprisingly well. We cut maple and red oak trees off our property had them cut to 1 inch thick, dried them in our garage for a couple months and tested them with meter until they read 6%. This meter was very handy and the price was really great.

Novice friendly

installed 550 feet of pressure treated wood fence this month and want to stain it when the moisture level is under 12%.. I borrowed a friends moisture tester and tested this one against it. Right now the driest item are the pickets. This one says 15.3% and his said 15.4%. I tested both with the built in tester in the cap and this one said 18.4% and his said the same. Per the manual it should be within 1% of 18.3 so it seems to be good. Buy a good alkaline 9v battery.
