Choosing the right curtain size depends on your window's measurements and the look you want. Measure the width and height of your window first. For a fuller appearance, aim for panels that are 1.5 to 2 times wider than your window. Length options vary—some panels reach the sill, others touch the floor.

• Check product descriptions for panel dimensions.
• Consider if you want the curtains to hang above or below the window frame.
• Remember, longer panels can create a more dramatic effect.

Taking these steps can help you find a great fit for your space.

Blackout panels are designed to block most light and offer privacy, making them ideal for bedrooms or media rooms. Sheer panels, on the other hand, let in natural light while still providing a bit of privacy.

• Blackout panels help reduce glare and can also insulate against heat and cold.
• Sheer panels are lighter and work well in living spaces where you want a bright, airy feel.

You can even layer both types for a flexible look and function.

Most window panels can be cleaned at home, but always check the care label first.

• For machine-washable panels, use a gentle cycle with mild detergent.
• Hang to dry or tumble dry on low if allowed.
• For panels that aren’t machine washable, spot clean with a damp cloth.

Avoid harsh chemicals and high heat, as these can damage fabrics. Regular dusting or vacuuming with a soft brush attachment can help keep panels looking fresh between washes.

Some window panels, especially those labeled as thermal or insulated, can help reduce outside noise and regulate room temperature.

• Thermal panels have extra layers that help block drafts and keep rooms warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
• Noise-reducing panels can soften sounds from outside, though results may vary based on your space and panel thickness.

While these features can make a difference, they work best when paired with other home insulation methods.

Grommet curtains are easy to hang and slide smoothly on a curtain rod.

1. Choose a rod that fits through the grommets.
2. Thread each grommet onto the rod, alternating the direction for even folds.
3. Mount the rod above your window frame for a taller look.

Make sure the rod is secure and level before hanging the panels. Grommet styles are popular for their modern look and simple installation process.
