Quilts are thick, multilayer blankets that are traditionally stitched together from patches. Quilts are usually colorful and attactive.

Comforters are both decorative and warm and are available in a variety of styles. Duvets are similar to comforters in that they're shells filled with synthetic fiber or down, but unlike comforters, they're designed to be placed within a shell or cover. An advantage to duvets is that you can wash the shell alone.

Coverlets are generally larger and thinner than other bed spreads, making them ideal for warm weather.
