To check if a remote is compatible with your set-top box, start by looking at the product description for a list of supported brands and models. Many universal remotes mention specific set-top box types or include a compatibility chart. If you're unsure, you can:

• Check your set-top box brand and model number.
• Look for remotes labeled as 'universal' or 'set-top box compatible.'
• Review the remote's packaging or online details for supported devices.

If you need extra help, Walmart's customer service can assist with compatibility questions before you buy.

When choosing a set-top box remote, consider features that match your needs. Some popular options include:

• Universal compatibility for controlling multiple devices.
• Voice control for hands-free operation.
• Backlit buttons for easy use in low light.
• Large buttons for better accessibility.
• Shortcut keys for quick access to streaming apps.

Think about which features matter most for your setup and daily use to find the best fit.

Many universal remotes can be programmed to work with streaming boxes and set-top boxes. The process usually involves entering a code or using an auto-search function. Here are some general steps:

1. Find the code for your streaming box in the remote's manual.
2. Follow the instructions to enter programming mode.
3. Test the remote to see if it controls your device.

Some remotes also support learning functions, letting you copy commands from your original remote. Always check the manual for specific instructions.

Most set-top box remotes have a battery compartment on the back. To replace the batteries:

1. Slide or lift the battery cover open.
2. Remove the old batteries, noting their orientation.
3. Insert new batteries of the correct type, matching the positive and negative ends.
4. Close the compartment securely.

It's a good idea to use fresh, high-quality batteries for the best performance. If your remote still doesn't work, double-check the battery placement or try a different set.

If your remote isn't working with your set-top box, try these troubleshooting steps:

• Check and replace the batteries.
• Make sure there's a clear line of sight between the remote and the box.
• Confirm the remote is set to the correct device mode.
• Reprogram the remote if needed, following the manual's instructions.
• Look for any physical damage or stuck buttons.

If these tips don't help, you may want to consider a replacement remote, which you can find at Walmart in-store or online.
