Start by measuring what you’re storing and where it will sit.

1. Measure your items: Length, width, and stack height. Add a little clearance so lids close comfortably.
2. Check internal dimensions: Compare your measurements to the box’s interior size listed on the product page.
3. Match use to style: For 4x6 prints, photo organizer cases can help. For dinnerware or flatware, look for boxes with dividers or felt separators.
4. Consider access and weight: If it’ll be handled often, reinforced handles and lighter materials may be helpful.
5. Plan for stacking: If you’ll stack, choose flat-lid or stackable designs.

Taking a moment to measure can help you choose a keepsake storage box that fits your space and items. Pickup or delivery options are shown on each product page and may vary by location.

Different materials serve different needs. Here’s a quick guide:

• Plastic: Durable and easy to clean. Clear sides make it simple to see what’s inside. Some have gasketed lids that can help reduce dust and moisture exposure.
• Wood: Sturdy and decorative for display keepsakes. Unfinished options are great for DIY painting or staining. Hinged lids and locks are common.
• Fabric: Lightweight and often collapsible with lids—nice for closets and soft goods.
• Paperboard/Cardboard: Decorative suitcase-style sets work well for lighter mementos and gift presentation.
• Metal/Tin: Compact and durable for small items like letters, cards, or trinkets.

Select based on how often you’ll access items, whether you want visibility, and where you’ll store them. You can filter by material and features on the product page to narrow choices.

Thoughtful stacking can help protect your items and boxes.

1. Choose stack-friendly designs: Flat, rigid lids and boxes labeled as stackable tend to work better.
2. Heaviest on bottom: Place heavier bins low and lighter ones on top to distribute weight safely.
3. Don’t overload: Keep total weight reasonable so lids and handles aren’t strained.
4. Use even surfaces: Stack on a flat shelf or floor to reduce tipping. A shelf can be safer than tall free-standing stacks.
5. Leave grab space: Avoid stacking so tightly that you can’t use handles or access lids.

These tips can help minimize wear, but ideal stacking height varies by box construction and what’s inside. When in doubt, add shelving to support multiple boxes.

Care depends on the material. Here are general tips:

• Plastic: Wipe with mild soap and water; dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive pads to keep surfaces clear.
• Fabric: Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent; air dry fully to help prevent odors. Avoid soaking inserts or lids.
• Wood: Dust regularly; wipe with a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. A light, non‑abrasive wood polish may help maintain the finish—test in a small area first.
• Paperboard: Dry dust only; avoid moisture to keep it from warping.
• Metal/Tin: Wipe dry; keep in a low‑humidity spot to help reduce surface dulling.

Store boxes in a cool, dry place and out of prolonged direct sunlight to help preserve colors and materials. Silica gel packets can help manage humidity inside storage, depending on your environment.

Unfinished wood boxes are great for DIY projects. Try this approach:

1. Prep: Lightly sand, then wipe away dust for a smooth base.
2. Color: Apply stain for a natural look or acrylic paint for bold color. Thin, even coats can help prevent drips.
3. Protect: Add a clear sealer once dry to help the finish last. Test products in a small spot first.
4. Detail: Line the interior with felt, add label holders, or attach small hardware for organization.
5. Dry time: Let everything cure fully before storing keepsakes to avoid transfer or odor.

Work in a well‑ventilated area and follow product instructions for best results. This approach can help turn a simple memory box into a personalized piece that fits your style.
