Manual hand-push drills and cordless power drills each have their own strengths.

• Manual drills are great for precision work, like crafts or delicate materials, since you control the speed and pressure. They don’t require batteries or electricity, making them portable and reliable for small jobs.
• Cordless drills offer more power and speed, making them ideal for larger tasks like drilling into wood or metal. They’re convenient for quick projects and come with features like adjustable torque and built-in lights.

Choosing depends on your project needs and how much control or power you want.

When choosing a drill for crafts, consider these points:

• Size and weight: Smaller, lightweight drills are easier to handle for detailed work.
• Chuck type: Adjustable chucks let you use different bit sizes for various materials.
• Bit compatibility: Make sure the drill fits the bits you need for your projects, like tiny twist drills for beads or resin.
• Manual vs. electric: Manual hand-push drills offer more control, while cordless options are faster for repetitive tasks.

Think about the materials you’ll be working with and how much precision you need.

Yes, you can use a hand-push drill for metal, especially for small holes or thin sheets.

• Choose the right drill bit—look for bits designed for metal.
• Work slowly and apply steady pressure to avoid damaging the bit or material.
• Manual drills are best for precision and delicate jobs, but for thicker metal, a power drill may be more efficient.

Always wear safety goggles and secure your workpiece before drilling.

Keeping your hand-push drill in good shape helps it last longer.

1. Clean the drill after each use—wipe away dust and debris.
2. Lubricate moving parts with a light oil to prevent rust and keep the mechanism smooth.
3. Store the drill in a dry place to avoid moisture damage.
4. Check the bits regularly for wear and replace them if needed.

Regular maintenance can make your drill more reliable for future projects.

Replacement bits for hand-push drills are available in the home improvement section at Walmart.

• Look for sets that match your drill’s chuck size and type.
• Many kits include a range of sizes for different materials and projects.
• If you’re unsure about compatibility, check the product details or ask a store associate for help.

Having extra bits on hand makes it easier to tackle new projects or replace worn-out ones.
