Cooking nets come in several styles, each designed for different kitchen tasks. Here are some common types you’ll find:

• Grill baskets and nets: Great for grilling veggies, fish, or smaller foods that might fall through grill grates.
• Mesh food covers: Pop-up tents or domes that keep bugs away from food during outdoor dining.
• Splatter screens: Fine mesh covers that sit on frying pans to reduce oil splatter while cooking.
• Strainer and steaming nets: Used for rinsing, draining, or steaming foods in pots and pans.

Each type is designed to make cooking or serving easier and cleaner, so it’s helpful to choose based on your main kitchen needs.

Mesh and netting both help with cooking tasks, but they’re a bit different:

• Mesh: Has very small, tightly woven holes. It’s great for fine tasks like straining, sifting, or keeping tiny particles (like oil splatter) contained.
• Netting: Features larger, more open holes. It’s often used for grilling baskets or food covers, letting air flow while keeping bugs out or food contained.

Choosing between mesh and netting depends on whether you need to block small particles or just want to keep food together or protected.

Yes, you can cook certain foods directly on a wire mesh, especially when grilling. Wire mesh grill baskets and racks are popular for:

• Grilling vegetables, fish, or shrimp that might slip through standard grates
• Getting even heat and those classic grill marks

Just make sure the wire mesh is made from food-safe materials like stainless steel and is designed for high-heat use. Always follow the manufacturer's care instructions to keep your cooking tools in good shape.

Cleaning mesh splatter screens and grill baskets is pretty straightforward:

1. Let the item cool completely before handling.
2. Rinse off loose food or grease under warm water.
3. Use a soft brush or sponge with mild dish soap to gently scrub away residue.
4. For stubborn spots, soak in warm soapy water for a few minutes before scrubbing.
5. Rinse thoroughly and let air dry.

Some mesh items are dishwasher safe, but always check the care label first to avoid damage.

When choosing a food cover for outdoor use, consider these features:

• Size: Make sure it’s large enough to cover your serving dishes or platters.
• Material: Look for fine mesh to keep bugs out but still allow airflow.
• Collapsible design: This makes storage and transport much easier.
• Ease of cleaning: Covers that are washable or wipeable are more convenient for repeated use.

These features can help you keep food protected and make outdoor dining more enjoyable.
