It needs a spray nozzle that you can turn the fan like the more expensive brand cans do so you can turn the fan of the spray vertical or horizontal that would then make it 10 times better and the overspray is terrible after each layer once it's dry to the touch needs to be wiped down with a tack cloth and sometimes rubbed vigorously but not with a lot of pressure just to rub the overspray off because if you don't it won't come out right it doesn't look right the overspray shows through because it's actually a clear-ish paint that's why you have to use black primary coat and the more coach you put on it the less sparkly and the less drastic the change and the lighter green it gets I like the darker green change to the copper but sometimes to get that wet finish you got to put it on heavier and then once it's light then it's just late unless you're going also if you make a mistake you wet sand it or you think you're going to just spray black in that spot that you had to fix that's a big negative you got to respray the entire part because of it being clear ish you can see drastic color differences if it's not all uniform I would not say that spraying the color shift paint would be for an amateur hobbyist I went to trade school to paint cars otherwise I think it would have came out kind of crappy just my opinion

Use a black base for beautiful results

I used the Pink Champagne and Blue Cosmos colors on some Betta statues. You absolutely must paint it black first, I used the same brand of black primer spray paint. The Pink Champagne has less of a color shift and requires more layers to not just look like glitter. The Blue Cosmos color worked really well with even one layer but I used a few to amp up the blue. They blend really nicely together, but after trial and error I found it worked best to spray one color and then carefully add more black primer before putting the other color on.

Top coat. Adds chameleon shimmer, not coverage.

This is not a standalone paint. Works best as a top coat for black. It's an extra layer that adds dimension and it's gorgeous! But fyi: looks transparent by itself. It's not gonna provide coverage, but it's gonna add an amazing finish to anything already painted. I use black, I feel like it would have to be a dark color to work, but I'm not certain. Spot test it on different surfaces/colors? It's phenomenal tho. 10/10

I used this to paint a huge planter in my front yard that I had first painted dark purple then went over that with the blue cosmos color changing paint. I love the result and I've gotten many compliments for it. it started gray/silver very ugly standing at 3 an a half feet tall about 2 feet wide and the rust oleum purple and blue cosmos covered it with one and a quarter can of purple and one can of blue cosmos perfectly. it's very pretty now I love it I'm very happy with the outcome. this product is easy to use and has great coverage, smooth application with no dripping. I'm going to buy more for other pots that are plain and boring now. beautiful color, smooth application. (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)

just redid a concrete birdbath and I mixed the blue and pink colors. It turned out FANTASTIC!!! I love it! I primed in a matte black concrete paint, shook for 3-5 min. and 3 coats of this and its so beautiful! i will be doing flower pots next! I had no problems with runs or clogs! 100% rating for me!

Awesome color shifting!!

This paint is awesome!! You have to shake the can several times during application so colors blend and it comes out beautiful with great coverage. It's worth every penny!

Practice makes perfect, ot at least close to it!

I love these Color Shift spray paints! The only complaint I have, though, it that the color density is often inconsistant from one can to another, even when I've spent overtime shaking them. I find this mainly to occur in the Pink Champaighn, as I had one can that is so much darker, denser coverage, that I don't dont for sure how IO will ever even it out on the 63" x 63" piece. The Mermaid is very thin and is not very different than the Cosmos, , but the Blue Cosmos does tend to be consistant from can to can. Now, I do not necessarily use it over black, as recommended, but that's is by design. I'm not looking for a dramatic effect in this project, so much as just the hint. It is a moasaic, a large Mandala, and I've gently sprayed the different designs arounf the perimeter, which are medium to dark in color and I LOVE the way it turns out! Except that one can of Pink Champaign. I'm hoping I can scrub on it some and lighten the coverage. It came out more like a brilliant coppery solid spray, while none of the others were that heavy. I hope I can match them pretty equally. WHen it's done, I'll post pictures. While it may sound like a complaint, rest assured, this paint is WONDERFUL! Follow the instructions to the letter, and you will not be disappointed! I intentionally did my own thing, becasue I was after a different effect and I am quite plesed, except for that one issue. I may end up having to recoat the rest of it to try to match it if I can't remove some of it to match the rest. I did get one batch of 3 different colors, that all clogged and wasted about half the can, because I could never get it unclogged after that. The nozzels on all three wouldn't come all the way back up, not would they let enough air out to effectively spray, so the air just leaked out of the cans , creating a weak spit, that was not really usable. I was so disappointed, and heve no idea why the all 3 did that. But I have bought a LOT of this paint and that was the only time, so i don't know why. It's on the high end of affordable to use in much quantity, and losing 3 cans was a drag. But I still buy it, and had no further issue of that nature. Let each coat dry before doing another, but it drys super fast. If you apply it too heavy or too soon, it will run, and you don't want that, it's not a desirable look. You have to keep it light and even, and layer to taste. You can choose the best distance for your desired effect. Never closer than 6 inches, to avoid drips. Keep it moving. If you're not familiar with spray paints, buy a cheap can of something first, and play with it. This behaves a little different, but you will understand the importance of smooth, consistent swipes. And how to release the spray at the end of the swipe before reversing . If you hold the sprayer down the whole time, you will end up triple coating the very beginning and the very end of your sweeps. Give it a chance! Follow directions! You will LOVE your project!!!!

Great color, has tendency to cause runs/drips

Great color however a bit tricky to get even coverage when you get down to 1/4 of a can. Clear paint comes out and has a tendency to cause runs. Same thing happened with multiple cans. Spent a lot of time sanding it back off ,then trying it again. Be aware of how much paint is left in the can as you go.

I incorrectly ordered this color. I have requested pickup from home and just did again and this will be the third try. I just want my money refunded. Monday memorial Day is the next pickup " day". Good money is spent weekly if not daily from Walmart and it should not be this difficult to get a refund when I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. I just want my money refunded.

paint must have a dark undercolor first. Then you have to spray the color on really thick ( multiple coats) to get alittle bit of the "color shift" to work.

You&#39;re absolutely correct! For best results with Rust-Oleum Specialty Color Shift Spray Paint, apply it over a dark base coat, and the more coats you apply, the more dramatic the color shift effect!<br />— Rust-Oleum Product Support 15
