I purposely got a thin mattress so it would go under a thick mattress topper I have that is too thin on its own. I went for the cheapest with the best reciews but I was surprised by how comfortable it was just on it's own. It's very firm but soft enough I could sleep on it on it's own. It is perfect for going under a mattress topper.
