This drill is what made me a dewalt fan for life

Absolute Beast (But keep your chiropractor on speed dial) Let me start by saying this drill is a powerhouse. If you want something that will drive fasteners and bore holes with zero hesitation, the DCD999 is exactly what you need. However, a word of caution: this tool does not care about your puny human joints. The "Incident": I was tackling what I thought was a simple job—drilling a hefty hole straight through a tree. I had a heavy-duty bit chucked in, gripping the drill confidently like I was the boss. Everything was going smoothly until the bit caught a massive, stubborn knot deep in the wood. Did the DCD999 stall? Did it bog down and ask for a breather? Absolutely not. It dug its heels in and decided that if the bit wasn't going to spin, I was going to spin. In a split second, this yellow-and-black torque monster engaged in a full-blown alligator death roll with my wrist. I was about half a rotation away from my arm snapping into a human pretzel. The drill literally wrenched itself out of my hands, hit the dirt, and just sat there looking at me like, "Who's next?" Pros: Unstoppable Power: Seriously, pair it with a FlexVolt battery and it will chew through anything. Build Quality: It survived the drop without a scratch after it tried to take my arm off. I've spent plenty of time taking DeWalt tools apart and putting them back together to fix them, but this beast didn't even need a checkup. Chuck Grip: Holds onto bits tighter than I apparently hold onto the drill. Cons: Will actively test your grip strength and the integrity of your rotator cuff. The Verdict: Buy it. It's easily one of the best drills out there. Just do yourself a favor and use the included side handle. Seriously, folks. Use the side handle, or prepare to learn how to write with your other hand.

Feels like new after owning for a year

Used this tool on stainless steel bathroom partitions while installing them, cement and brick for installing doors, and mostly drywall installing shelving systems in closets. Thousands of holes and different materials and the drill still feels new. No lack of power, head still closes around bits as if new. It just feels like a new tool about a year after buying it. I mainly compare it to using an impact for a while and the impact gets worse and worse. Im a carpenter by trade and an amateur woodworker.

Simple and yet everything you'll want!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Finally got to use my new Cordless Hammer Drill and I can't tell you enough about how much better this tool worked compared to my old one. To start, the fact it is cordless was amazing for me. I was in the middle of a street where extension cords were not an option. The hanging clip made it easy to carry to and from the job site. The handle was easy to adjust and secure with just a few twists and didn't budge the whole time I was using it. All of the adjustments are simple and quick to make making this thing a breeze when using it for multiple tasks. There was plenty of power behind this thing I wasn't concerned it couldn't get the job done. It would get warm, but never hot enough that I thought it might overheat. Overall I am ecstatic to have this great tool in my collection now!
