Expansion was immediate. No waiting at all. If you want extra firm this is it folks. That's what I wanted. The only thing I would change is the covering. Even waterproof does not protect. But I found fabulous waterpad on Amazon to solve that problem. I do not want any expensive spring loaded mattress ever again.

It took a few hours to fully form and seemed like it would be too short to fit in a bunkbed by several inches, but it eventually fit perfectly. Our toddler really likes it and it's a great product.
