I can tie the sides down so they are thinner and it looks cute--more like a bikini than a granny brief. They cover your whole butt, and they stay down around your cheeks, not just a stripe up the middle that wants to work into the crack like I see in the stores. I pair these in black with either a black top, or a brightly-colored or print top and wear them all season and on vacations.
