Nice refurb Dell E6420 laptop

I've had good experience with refurb laptops. This is my third refurb laptop. This Dell E6420 arrived on time. All the USB ports work. The HDMI port works. There were one or two minor scratches. The screen looks great. The keyboard is clean and feels much better than the cheaper (when brand new) laptops. I wanted a decent laptop that I could do both Windows and Linux. I had no problem installing Ubuntu 15.10 so I could dual boot Windows and Linux. Some reviewers complain about the battery. I would guess the refurb shop has a machine that indicates how much battery life remains. Further, I would guess they prorate the cost of the battery. If you want a laptop with a (nearly) new battery, then expect to pay more. Other reviewers complain about how much time it takes to do the initial Windows 7 Professional setup. In my experience, ALL computers, new or refurb, take about the entire afternoon to do the initial Windows 7 Professional setup. In summary, I am very pleased with the performance, appearance, and price of this refurb Dell E6420 laptop. So far, all my refurb laptops from Walmart have been nice machines.

Failed out of the box.

The included Windows 10 compressed file on the hard drive had to be setup. It was horribly slow, especially during hours and hours of downloads today. Which I need it badly to replace my worn out and broken laptop. The setup program finally crashed giving error codes and could not be recovered or restarted. My own Windows 10 would not load at all on this machine, but it did work with Ubuntu 16.04 (Linux Debian) a bit faster, but with problems. Linux does not recognize the Broadbrand WiFi modem in the laptop. So only an external 801 USB antenna would work....somewhat. After some testing, it just had too many issues running Linux that usually works on all pc's without too many issues. Now I'm in about my 12th hour and installing Windows 8.1 Home Version from CD. If this doesn't work, It will be going back. It is horribly slow with the drives, internet connections, and can't handle more than one program running. Usually adding more memory helps this problem in most cases....if I can make it run in the first place.
