At first it was puzzling and I was ready to return it till i repeatedly studied the booklet of instructions. The switch did not work right away which meant the coffee maker did not cool down long enough to make a second mug. And keep the mug LID OFF when brewing. When the coffee maker gets over heated, inside the unit has an element that shuts the maker down. I waited next day and I started it up again, plugged it in and the switch light came on after all. Coffee brewed successfully after 4 tries ! Don't use paper filter either ! And don't over fill coffee grounds or press into the mesh ! Makes great coffee, better than dripped !!! Easy to pack in my traveling cases for trips. Tip: bring extra mugs with you without the wait to make more.
