I did quite a bit of research about ice makers before purchasing this one, so I think it is close to or better than what I expected. It is really easy to use. It makes a nice pebble ice and does it fairly quickly. The basket doesn't hold a lot of ice, but it has easily met our needs. The ice maker creates some noise, but it isn't distractingly loud. We have only had it a week, so we have not yet tested the machines ease of cleaning, and we will see about its durability moving forward. I purchased the three year warranty offered through Walmart, because the ice maker was a good price but didn't provide much of a warrantee, and the extended warranty was reasonably priced -- I hope it provides some protection if we have problems in the future. So far, I think it is a very good value.
