There was asssembly required, but the directions were very clear and it was easy to put together. I did it in about 15 minutes. The chair is very well build and the materials are high quality.

Almost Perfect

I really like this chair except I am getting what I paid for. It's almost the perfect size but I am short so I appreciated being able to lower it enough (I am 5'2") but it is long and my thighs are short. It looks professional, but it is not meant for prolonged sitting. I have sciatica and have been trying to find a chair with a good cushion, this one bears temporary comfort for me. The cushion eventually gets low enough where the chair starts to feel flat and hard after an hour. The overall value is great, a steal pretty much. It would be best to use this as a base chair and deck it out with cushions and accessories to make it work specific to you. The assembly was easy and the directions were clear. Back support is good for taller people. There is no stacking this chair. It only folds at the arms.
