Wow! I love this vacuum sealer. Gets the job done quick and simple. Makes storing food and soup easy, vacuum seals perfectly and now I can lay soup filled bags flat and stack them easily in the freezer. Overall easy to follow instructions. Unscrew the back panel with the tools provided (screw driver), locate the vacuum pump, unscrew it at the top and add the oil that comes with the machine. Put the panel back on and follow the rest of the instructions to set and start using the machine. I also like the clear lid so I can see the difference when the air is vacuumed out and it's sealed. Make sure to remove all plastic and check inside under the tray for any foam packing boards to remove. I will add a tip. When you have the bags that you cut to size, and both ends are open, yes, you can indeed seal one side with this machine without anything in the bag. Just set it as you would if something is in it. Plug it in, push switch up to the on position then configure settings. For example: vacuum 30secs, Sealing 2sec, cooling 3seconds. Then follow the instructions to drop the bag pressure rod/sealing bar, close the lid and the machine starts. It took me a little too long to realize that so hope this helps you save some time. Know that this is a heavy duty commercial vacuum sealer so expect it to be heavy so that you can plan accordingly. It is a good quality vacuum sealer and I'm very pleased with it.
