I notice a lot of reviews for this product are from people making their own laundry soap. Well, I am not one of them. Although there are many uses for this product, all I use it for is to boost my regular laundry detergent. It helps wash away the smells imbedded in frabric that most scented detergents and frabric softeners mask. It also helps whiten whites, and keeps my washer smelling fresh. This is an older, natual product much like Borax, and I am glad to see its making a comeback. No matter how cheap the detergent you purchase is, by adding this washing powder in the machine with it will hugely boost it's cleaning power. And, what's also a plus is, it isn't expensive and doesn't take much. Sometimes, it is hard to find at the big box stores because of its popularity, so I am always glad to see it on Walmart. com at the same affordable price as in its store.

I use this as a base ingredient for my powdered laundry detergent; I need to make about twice a year. There are several laundry products with washing soda I make and it doesn't take much. One is “laundry butter” which is 1 Fels naptha bar, 1 cup of washing soda and 1 cup of Borax. It is cooked, blended and makes a thick detergent. I love it as a stain remover. See the pictures.
