Material is not dense or thick and padded, instead, these shorts are thin, but good for hot and cooler weather, and feel extremely durable and are quicker drying than khaki. The side-slit pockets are functional, but don't stand or pop out like cargo short pockets.

These are simply the best Dickies work shorts I've ever worn. Lightweight, cool, and extremely comfortable. Unlike the other reviews, I love the fact that there are no buttons, and like the small velcro tabs on the back pockets. I can't wear anything with exposed buttons, rivets, and zippers because I work around high end, classic, custom and show vehicles, loading and unloading in a very confined enclosed car trailer. I like the fact that when I'm climbing around the cars, these shorts have nothing that can scratch, or damage the vehicles. The mobility, and ease of movement is far improved over the ripstop style I have used previously. I'm going to highly recommend these to all of my carhauler friends. I'm definitely going to order a few more pairs. Comfortable, great looking, and practical shorts for work and play.
