Elements by Thyme & Table Handheld Mandoline Slicer - Blue

Confession: I have never used a mandolin in my 32 years of life, and now I have no idea why I've never picked one up. This thing is fantastic! It makes light work of slicing cucumbers, jalapeños, banana peppers, and other veggies, making my canning sessions much more efficient and saving me soooo much time. There were no instructions included, but I quickly figured out that the slider moves the piece at the bottom, which when you press down with your veggie, allows you to get thicker or thinner slices as desired. The mandolin is lightweight and stores easily, but is also sturdy and stays put when you place it over a bowl. The included finger guard is flexible and makes getting a grip on a variety of vegetables super simple. It definitely made me feel more comfortable using the mandolin, which is perfectly (and ideally) sharp!

Impressive blades for its compact size. I routinely use a mandolin to slice red onions and found that this kitchen tool met my expectations. I appreciate how it comes with a protective hand guard. This allows you to get the most out of your slices. The width of the surface area was suitable for a large red onion. Anything more than that may be challenging. There are 3 thickness options. Setting 1 is the thinnest. It is not paper thin, but it is decent. The compact size and performance makes this a device I can easily reach for regularly to make weekly prep faster.
