my two items arrived just as described relatively easy to assemble this and until I figure out a place that I can actually hang these I may have to put them on the surface of my patio for a bit but I will hang them my girlfriend actually also was quite amazed that they are as good quality as they are she seems to what excited as I was. I would have to write this good product and two thumbs up cuz I got two items in the same box which is a pair which is what they were advertised as.

I got this 2 pack of matte black hanging planters because my old plastic baskets were faded and cracked, and honestly they were just ugly. I wanted something that looked intentional rather than like I grabbed whatever was on clearance. The matte black caught my eye and the self-watering feature sealed the deal. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box is how nice the finish is. The matte black has a soft, almost velvety texture to it. No weird glossy shine that screams plastic. The 10 inch size is perfect for my porch railing because they don't stick out too far but still hold a decent sized plant. Each planter comes with two types of hangers, three chains for ceiling mounting and two rigid metal arms that convert it into a standing planter. I used the chains and saved the arms for later. The visual water reservoir is genuinely useful. There's a clear vertical strip on the front of each planter so you can see exactly how much water is left without guessing or sticking your finger in the soil. I filled the reservoir on both planters and watched the level go down slowly over about a week. My trailing ivy and petunias both looked happy the whole time. No more lifting the basket to feel the weight or wondering if I overwatered. The self-watering setup works through a wicking system in the inner basket. You fill the reservoir through a small side opening and the plant pulls water up as needed. The drainage holes in the inner basket prevent the roots from sitting in standing water. I tested one by filling the reservoir to the max line and no water leaked out the bottom. When I deliberately overfilled, the excess came out an overflow hole instead of dripping on my floor. My only complaint is that the chains are a little flimsy feeling. They hold the weight fine but the links look thin. I replaced them with stronger chains I had leftover from another project because I'm paranoid about my plants crashing down. The original chains probably would have been fine but I didn't want to risk it. The matte black finish picks up dust and water spots easily. A quick wipe with a damp cloth fixes it but you'll notice every little smudge. I'm hoping the plastic doesn't become brittle in the sun. The black might absorb more heat than lighter colors so I'm keeping an eye on it. So far after a few weeks on my covered porch, no issues.
