Safety 1st onBoard Slide DLX Infant Car Seat featuring SafetySlide Base

This is a different brand of car seat for our family so it's not something I would have initially thought of but I'm so glad I was able to try it because I do love it. The base itself is heavy. I think that's just part of the slide feature but it was very easy to install and the seat itself is very lightweight. The slide is also easy to use - I was able to utilize the slide feature with one hand which was great. I set the seat up in the middle of our 2nd row so our older kids can easily get to the third row - so this was a game changer for us. The design of the car seat is sleek and neutral which I love. The material seems durable but also easy to clean. Overall, I think the slide is great for us and the positioning of car seats in our vehicle. I like that it was able to fit this seat and base next to another forward facing seat without any problems and I would definitely recommend to others.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all, this is a great car seat and solid base, with super easy and safe installation. The base is very sturdy and solid. I love all the safety features included in it, which give me such a peace of mind when installing. No more guessing if the base is installed tight enough. The base has lots of indicator slides, which move to green once correctly in place. For example, the seatbelt tighten indicator: When you set-up the seatbelt tight enough, the slider moves to green and you know it's done right. It also has a very convenient leveler build in. Just one pull and a little ramp is sliding out of the base pushing it in the desired angle. No more issue on how to level the car seat proper. The click-in of the car seat into the base is so easy. Even without the slide, just set-it on, click and done. The slider is a nice feature for easier reach to the seat. It does slide either with or without the seat. I love that feature, for when I take the baby out of the car seat. And the indictor slides show when the car seat is in the correct position again. The car seat is light and comfortable. I did get to try it rather late, therefore my baby was already 10months. I took out the infant support. Then I loosened all the straps and moved them to the largest position, which was surprisingly easy to do. The straps didn't get caught up and were easy to secure back together. The seat itself is very comfortable. The shoulder cushion prevent the seat belt cutting into the neck and also help keeping the head straight. The positioning of the baby is just right. She sits comfortable without her head falling forward when sleeping. The car seat is light, similar to other expensive brands, which becomes more important as the baby gains weight. Another big feature is the easy removal of the seat cushions to get them washed. The cushions are mostly just wrapped around the seat and tighten with some rubber bands and a few buttons. The rubber bands allow you to have some wiggle room, when installing the cushions back (which is so important after a wash). The buttons give it extra security on positions where truly needed. The car seat also has convenient hooks to be used when using the car seat without a base. This comes in handy, as we have a second car (which we rarely take with the baby) and we didn't want to invest in a second base. So this is a great alternative. The package says, its compatible with all safety first strollers, but I didn't have own one to try. Overall, it's a great car seat. Very sturdy and well made. The inserts and extension allow you to use the seat straight from the hospital to beyond a year (up to 32inch and 30 pounds).
