Choosing the right size window cornice can make a big difference in your room's look. Start by measuring the width of your window, including any trim. Add a few extra inches on each side if you want the cornice to extend beyond the window frame for a more dramatic effect. Also, consider the height—taller cornices can make ceilings appear higher. If you're using a kit or custom option, check the product details for sizing guidelines. When in doubt, it's helpful to review the product's measurement instructions or reach out to Walmart's customer service for guidance.

Some window cornice kits are designed for easy, no-tools installation, especially those labeled as no-sew or DIY kits. These often use adhesive strips, Velcro, or reusable forms to attach the cornice above your window.

• Check the product description for installation requirements.
• For traditional wood or heavy fabric cornices, basic tools like a drill or screwdriver may be needed.

Cleaning your window cornice depends on the material.

• Fabric cornices: Use a vacuum with a brush attachment to remove dust. Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent if needed, but avoid soaking the fabric.
• Wood or faux wood cornices: Wipe gently with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals to prevent damage.

Window cornices are mainly decorative and are designed to cover curtain rods or add a finished look to your window treatments. While they can help reduce some light that seeps in at the top of your window, they aren't intended to block out light completely. For more effective light control, consider pairing your cornice with blackout curtains or blinds. This combination can help you achieve both style and better light management in your space.

Absolutely! Window cornices are a great way to add a polished touch above your existing blinds or curtains.

• They can be installed over most standard window treatments, including horizontal blinds, vertical blinds, and drapes.
• Just make sure to measure carefully so the cornice fits comfortably above your current setup.
