Choosing the right size valance depends on your window's width and the look you want.

• Measure the width of your window, including any trim.
• For a gathered or fuller look, select a valance that's 1.5 to 2 times wider than your window.
• Check the length—most valances are between 14 and 18 inches long, but shorter or longer options are available for different styles.

Consider the room's decor and how much of the window you want to cover. If you're unsure, it's helpful to measure before shopping to find the best fit for your space.

Absolutely! Valances can be used on their own or paired with curtains.

• On their own, valances add a decorative touch and soften the look of a window, especially in kitchens, bathrooms, or small spaces.
• They let in plenty of natural light while still providing a finished look.
• If you want more privacy or light control, you can layer a valance over blinds or full-length curtains.

It's all about your style and how much coverage you want for your window.

Most valances are designed with a rod pocket, making them easy to hang.

• Simply slide a curtain rod through the pocket at the top of the valance.
• Choose a rod that fits the pocket size and matches your decor.
• Install the rod brackets above your window frame, then adjust the valance so it hangs evenly.

Some valances also work with clip rings or hooks, so check the product details for hanging options. Always follow the included instructions for the best results.

Cleaning your valance depends on the fabric.

• Many valances can be machine washed on a gentle cycle with cold water—just check the care label first.
• For delicate or embellished fabrics, spot cleaning or hand washing is often recommended.
• Hang or lay flat to dry to help maintain the shape and avoid shrinkage.

Regular dusting or light vacuuming can also help keep your valance looking fresh between washes.

Valances are a great choice for small windows.

• They add style without overwhelming the space or blocking too much light.
• Valances can make a small window look more finished and help tie the room’s decor together.
• Look for shorter lengths and lighter fabrics to keep things airy and bright.

They're especially popular in kitchens, bathrooms, and RVs where space is limited but you still want a decorative touch.
