Choosing the right size wall patch depends on the size of the hole or crack you're repairing.

• Measure the damaged area and select a patch that's slightly larger to fully cover it.
• Wall patch kits often come in multiple sizes, so you can match the patch to your repair needs.
• For small holes, a 2-4 inch patch works well, while larger holes may need 6-8 inch patches.

Having a patch that's too small can lead to weak repairs, so it's best to err on the side of a larger patch for a secure fix.

1. Let the patch and any compound dry completely.
2. Sand the area gently to even out the surface.
3. Wipe away dust with a damp cloth.
4. Apply a primer to the patched spot to help paint adhere.
5. Once dry, paint over the area to match the rest of your wall.

These steps can help your repair blend in seamlessly with your existing paint.

• Once a patch is applied and covered with compound, it stays in place permanently.
• Unused patches from a multi-pack can be saved for future repairs.
• Mesh tape rolls can be cut to size and used for multiple projects, but individual patches are not meant to be removed and reused.

Keeping extra patches on hand can make future fixes quick and easy.
