The 2/3 rule is a handy guideline when choosing a sofa size for your living room. It suggests that your sofa should be about two-thirds the length of the wall it sits against. This helps keep the space balanced and prevents the sofa from overwhelming the room or looking too small.

• Measure your wall first.
• Multiply the length by 0.67 to find the ideal sofa size.
• Consider other furniture and walking space.

This rule can make arranging your traditional sofa easier and create a comfortable, visually appealing layout.

Old fashioned couches are often referred to as traditional sofas. Some common styles include Chesterfield, Camelback, and Lawson sofas.

• Chesterfield: Known for deep button tufting and rolled arms.
• Camelback: Features a curved back that resembles a camel’s hump.
• Lawson: Has simple lines and loose cushions for comfort.

These classic designs add timeless elegance to living rooms and are popular choices for those who appreciate vintage or classic decor.

Traditional sofas are considered timeless because of their classic shapes and enduring appeal. Styles like the Chesterfield, rolled-arm, and tufted-back sofas never go out of fashion.

• Neutral colors and quality fabrics help them blend with different decor.
• Simple lines and sturdy construction make them versatile.
• They’re often easy to accessorize with pillows and throws.

Choosing a timeless sofa style means your living room will look stylish for years, no matter how trends change.

If you’re looking for a sofa that’s comfortable for sensitive skin or eczema, consider materials that are soft and non-irritating.

• Look for traditional sofas with smooth fabrics like cotton or microfiber.
• Avoid rough textures or synthetic materials that may cause irritation.
• Choose removable and washable cushion covers to help keep allergens away.

While a sofa can’t treat eczema, picking the right material can make your living space more comfortable. For specific health concerns, it’s always best to consult a medical professional.

Cleaning a traditional sofa depends on its material.

• Fabric: Vacuum regularly and spot clean with a mild detergent and water. Always test in a hidden area first.
• Leather or faux leather: Wipe with a damp cloth and use a gentle leather cleaner as needed.
• Velvet or chenille: Use a soft brush to remove dust and follow manufacturer instructions for spot cleaning.

Keeping your sofa clean helps it last longer and keeps your living room looking fresh. Check care tags for specific cleaning tips.
