Yes, batting can be used to fill stuffed animals, especially if you're looking for a soft, plush feel. Polyester fiberfill is a popular choice because it's lightweight, easy to work with, and holds its shape well. Cotton and wool batting are also options, though they may create a firmer result. When choosing batting for stuffed animals, consider the desired softness and whether you want the filler to be washable. Always check the product details to ensure it's suitable for toys and crafts, and follow any care instructions for best results.

Polyfill and batting are both used in crafts and sewing, but they serve different purposes. Polyfill is a loose, fluffy fiber that's ideal for stuffing pillows, plush toys, and cushions. Batting, on the other hand, is typically a flat sheet or roll of fibers used as a middle layer in quilts, blankets, and upholstery projects. While both can add softness and volume, polyfill is best for filling shapes, and batting is designed for layering and structure. Choosing between them depends on your project’s needs.

When choosing batting for quilting, consider these factors:

• Material: Cotton batting gives a natural, breathable finish, while polyester offers more loft and is lighter.
• Thickness (loft): Low-loft batting creates a flatter quilt, while high-loft adds puffiness.
• Size: Select a batting size that matches or slightly exceeds your quilt top.
• Care: Some batting types are machine washable, while others may require special care.

Think about the look and feel you want for your quilt, as well as how you plan to use and wash it.

Batting can be used to stuff a pillow, but the result will differ from using loose fiberfill. Batting sheets can be layered or rolled to fill pillows, creating a firmer, more structured shape. For a softer, fluffier pillow, loose polyester fiberfill is often preferred. If you choose batting, make sure to distribute it evenly and consider the pillow’s intended use—decorative pillows may benefit from batting, while sleeping pillows usually require more softness and flexibility.

To keep your leftover batting or stuffing in good condition, follow these tips:

• Store in a clean, dry place to prevent moisture and dust buildup.
• Use resealable bags or containers to keep fibers fresh and organized.
• Keep away from direct sunlight, which can degrade some materials over time.
• Label your storage with the type and size of batting or stuffing for easy identification.

Proper storage helps maintain the quality of your materials for future craft or sewing projects.
