String bracelets are often called friendship bracelets. These colorful, woven or beaded accessories are popular for their DIY nature and the tradition of gifting them to friends. You might also hear them referred to as braided bracelets, beaded bracelets, or charm bracelets depending on the materials and style. Kits at Walmart usually include everything you need to make these bracelets, making them a fun craft for kids, tweens, and adults alike.

If you're new to making string bracelets, look for kits that include step-by-step instructions, a variety of threads or beads, and easy-to-use tools like weaving boards or snap-on designs. Kits with pre-cut threads and simple patterns are great for beginners, while adjustable straps and name beads let you personalize your creations. Walmart offers a wide selection, so you can find a kit that matches your skill level and interests.

For making string bracelets, popular options include

• Embroidery floss: Soft, colorful, and easy to braid.
• Elastic cord: Great for stretchy bracelets with beads.
• Satin cord: Smooth and shiny for a polished look.
• Leather cord: Durable and stylish for a more classic feel.

The two finger rule is a simple way to check if your bracelet fits comfortably. After putting on the bracelet, try sliding two fingers between the bracelet and your wrist. If you can do this easily, the bracelet isn’t too tight and allows for movement. If it’s difficult, the bracelet may be too snug. This rule helps ensure your string bracelet is comfortable for everyday wear and not restrictive.

Many string bracelet kits are designed for kids ages 5 and up, with easy-to-follow instructions and safe materials. While most children can use these kits independently, younger kids may benefit from adult supervision, especially when handling small beads or tying knots. Crafting together can be a fun bonding activity, and adults can help with tricky steps or ensure everything stays organized. Always check the kit’s recommended age range before starting.
