Stretchy sheets are often referred to as jersey knit sheets or stretch fitted sheets. These sheets are made with fabrics like cotton jersey, microfiber, or blends that have a natural stretch, similar to a soft T-shirt. The stretch allows them to fit snugly over mattresses of various depths and helps keep them in place throughout the night. If you're shopping for a secure and comfortable fit, look for terms like "4-way stretch," "jersey knit," or "deep pocket fitted sheets" in the product description.

When making a bed, the fitted sheet usually goes on first. Here’s a simple order to follow:

1. Start with the fitted sheet, making sure the elastic edges wrap securely around the mattress.
2. Next, add the flat sheet on top, smoothing it out for comfort.
3. Then, layer on your blankets, comforter, or duvet.
4. Finish by arranging pillowcases and decorative pillows as you like.

This order helps keep your sheets in place and makes your bed look neat and inviting.

Yes, many stretchy sheets are designed with deep pockets to fit thicker mattresses. Look for sheets labeled as "deep pocket" or "extra deep pocket," which can accommodate mattresses up to 15 inches or more in depth. The stretchable fabric and all-around elastic help the sheet stay secure, even on pillow-top or adjustable beds. Always check the product details to match your mattress height for the best fit and comfort.

For those with limited mobility, such as Parkinson's patients, stretchy sheets can make getting in and out of bed easier. The smooth, flexible fabric reduces friction, which may help with movement. Look for sheets made from jersey knit or microfiber with a snug fit, as these are less likely to bunch up. For personalized advice, it’s a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional to match bedding choices to individual needs.

To keep your stretchy sheets soft and in good shape:

• Wash them in cold or warm water on a gentle cycle.
• Use mild detergent and avoid bleach, which can damage the fibers.
• Tumble dry on low heat or air dry to help maintain elasticity.
• Avoid over-drying, as high heat can cause shrinkage or reduce stretch.

Always check the care label for specific instructions, since different fabrics may have unique requirements.
