Plates, cups, and silverware are often grouped under the term tableware or dinnerware. Tableware includes everything you use for setting the table, serving, and eating meals—like dishes, glasses, cups, forks, knives, and spoons. Sometimes, you’ll also hear the word flatware for silverware and drinkware for cups and glasses. When shopping at Walmart, you’ll find these items in the Kitchen & Dining section, making it easy to put together a coordinated set for your home or next gathering.

Cups aren’t typically considered silverware. Silverware usually refers to utensils like forks, knives, and spoons—sometimes called flatware. Cups, along with plates and bowls, fall under drinkware or dinnerware. If you’re organizing your kitchen or shopping for a set, you’ll often see cups and silverware listed separately, so it’s helpful to know the difference when choosing what you need for your table or event.

The number of spoons a silverware cup can hold depends on the cup’s size and the type of spoons you’re storing. Most standard utensil holders or silverware cups can comfortably fit 8 to 12 regular-sized spoons without overcrowding. If you’re using a larger or divided organizer, you might fit more. For best results, avoid overfilling so utensils stay easy to grab and the cup remains stable on your countertop or table.

To keep your silverware organized in a cup, try these tips:

• Sort by type: Place forks, knives, and spoons in separate cups or sections if possible.
• Handle up or down: Store handles up for easy grabbing, or down for a cleaner look—just make sure sharp edges are safe.
• Don’t overcrowd: Give each piece enough space to avoid tangling.
• Choose the right size: Pick a cup that’s tall and sturdy enough for your utensils.

Organizing this way can make meal prep and cleanup quicker and your kitchen look tidier.
