Choosing the right size scallop shells depends on how you plan to use them. For craft projects or small decorations, shells around 1-2 inches work well. If you're baking or serving food, larger shells (3-5 inches) offer more space and a sturdy base. Consider the dimensions listed in the product description and think about your project needs. If you're unsure, a mixed-size set can give you flexibility for different uses.

Many scallop shells sold for crafts and decor are also suitable for baking and serving food. Look for shells described as "baking" or "restaurant quality" in the product details. Before using them in the oven, rinse the shells thoroughly with warm water and let them dry. Always check the product description to confirm they're safe for food use, and avoid exposing them to sudden temperature changes to help prevent cracking.

To clean scallop shells for crafts or serving, gently rinse them under warm water to remove any sand or debris. For a deeper clean, soak the shells in a mixture of water and mild dish soap for a few minutes, then scrub lightly with a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly and let them air dry. Avoid using harsh chemicals or boiling, as this can damage the shells' natural finish.

Scallop shells are versatile for home decor. You can use them to create beach-themed centerpieces, wreaths, or wall art. They're also great as candle holders, soap dishes, or vase fillers. For a festive touch, string them together for garlands or use them as place card holders at parties. Their natural look adds a coastal vibe to any room or event.

Scallop shells can be used in aquariums for decoration, but it's important to rinse them thoroughly before placing them in the tank. Keep in mind that natural shells may affect water hardness and pH over time, especially in freshwater setups. If you're concerned about your aquarium's balance, consult with a pet or aquarium specialist before adding shells to your tank.
