Choosing the right paint roller size depends on the surface you're working on.

• Small rollers (2-4 inches) are great for tight spots, trim, and touch-ups.
• Medium rollers (7-9 inches) work well for walls, ceilings, and larger flat surfaces.
• Large rollers (10 inches or more) are best for big, open areas like ceilings or large walls.

Consider the texture of your surface too—rough surfaces may need a thicker nap. Checking the product details can help you match the roller to your project.

Foam and knit rollers are designed for different paint jobs.

• Foam rollers are ideal for smooth finishes on doors, cabinets, and trim. They work best with thinner paints and leave minimal texture.
• Knit rollers are made for rougher surfaces like textured walls or ceilings. They hold more paint and help cover uneven areas.

Think about your project’s surface and the type of paint you’re using when choosing between them.

Cleaning your paint roller helps it last longer.

1. Remove excess paint by rolling it on scrap paper or cardboard.
2. Rinse the roller in warm water for water-based paints, or use the appropriate solvent for oil-based paints.
3. Work the paint out with your hands or a roller cleaner.
4. Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear, then shake out excess water.
5. Let it air dry standing up or hanging.

Always check the paint can for specific cleaning instructions, as some specialty paints may need different care.

It's possible to reuse a roller for different colors, but only if it's cleaned thoroughly between uses. Any leftover paint can mix with your new color and affect the finish. For best results,

• Wash the roller completely after each use.
• Let it dry fully before switching colors.

If you’re working on a big project with multiple colors, having extra rollers on hand can save time and help keep colors true.

Yes, there are specialty paint rollers designed to create textured effects or patterns on walls and furniture. These rollers often have raised designs or unique materials that imprint a pattern as you roll.

• Textured rollers can add depth to plain surfaces.
• Patterned rollers are great for DIY home décor projects.

Always test on a small area first to see how the effect looks with your paint and surface.
