It's a good idea to replace your diffuser reeds every 1 to 3 months, depending on how strong you want the scent and how much oil is left. Over time, reeds can get clogged with oil and dust, which slows down fragrance release. If you notice the scent fading or the sticks looking saturated, swapping them out can help refresh your space. For best results, flip the reeds every week or so, and always use fresh reeds when switching to a new fragrance oil.

Not all diffuser sticks are created equal. You'll find natural rattan, bamboo, and fiber reeds, each with unique features.

• Rattan reeds have channels that help draw up and disperse oil efficiently.
• Fiber reeds are often more uniform and can provide a steady scent release.
• Bamboo sticks are decorative but may not absorb oil as well as rattan or fiber.

If you don't have replacement diffuser reeds handy, you can try using natural materials like thin, untreated wooden skewers or even dried flowers with sturdy stems. However, these alternatives may not disperse fragrance as effectively as purpose-made reeds. For best results and consistent scent, it's recommended to use replacement reeds designed for diffusers, which you can easily find at Walmart.

When choosing replacement reeds, consider the following:

1. Material: Rattan and fiber reeds are popular for their scent-absorbing properties.
2. Size: Match the length and thickness to your diffuser bottle for optimal performance.
3. Quantity: More reeds can give a stronger scent, but too many may use up oil quickly.

It's generally not recommended to reuse old diffuser sticks with new oil. Over time, reeds become saturated and may get clogged, which can block the scent from diffusing properly. Also, mixing old and new oils can create unexpected fragrance blends. For a fresh, consistent aroma, it's best to start with new replacement reeds whenever you refill or change your diffuser oil.
