Plastic canvas is sometimes called plastic mesh or craft mesh. It’s a flexible, grid-like sheet made from plastic, designed for needlepoint and yarn crafts. You might also see it labeled by its mesh count, such as 7-count or 14-count, which refers to the number of holes per inch. These terms are often used interchangeably in craft stores and online listings, so if you’re searching for supplies, try using all three names to find the best selection for your project.

Plastic canvas is super versatile for DIY projects! Here are some popular ideas:

• Ornaments: Create seasonal or themed decorations for holidays.
• Tissue box covers: Personalize your space with custom designs.
• Coasters and bookmarks: Quick and practical gifts.
• Wall hangings: Add color and texture to any room.
• Storage boxes: Organize small items with handmade flair.

Many kits come with everything you need, or you can mix and match patterns and yarn colors for a unique touch. It’s a great way to get creative and make something useful!

Choosing the right plastic canvas depends on your project’s size and detail. Here are a few tips:

• Mesh count: Lower counts (like 7-count) are best for thicker yarn and bold designs, while higher counts (like 14-count) work well for finer detail and thinner threads.
• Shape and size: Sheets come in rectangles, circles, and specialty shapes—pick what fits your pattern.
• Color: Clear, white, and colored canvases are available to match your design or background.

Check your pattern’s recommendations and consider the look you want before purchasing. Walmart’s selection makes it easy to find just what you need for any project.
