Choosing the right placemat size depends on your table and place settings. Most placemats are rectangular, around 12x18 inches, but some are square or larger.

• Measure your table and consider how many people you usually seat.
• Make sure each placemat fits comfortably without overlapping.
• Leave enough space for plates, utensils, and glasses.

If you have a smaller table, look for compact placemats. For larger tables or special occasions, bigger or uniquely shaped placemats can add style and coverage.

Cleaning placemats depends on their material.

• For silicone or plastic placemats, simply wipe them with a damp cloth or wash them in the sink. Some are dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.
• Fabric placemats can often be machine washed, but check the care label first.
• Vinyl and faux leather placemats usually just need a quick wipe.

Always let placemats air dry completely before storing to prevent moisture buildup.

Many placemats are designed to offer some heat resistance, helping to shield your table from hot dishes.

• Materials like PVC, silicone, and faux leather often provide a barrier against moderate heat.
• While placemats can help, they may not protect against extremely hot pots or pans.

For extra protection, consider using trivets or heat pads alongside your placemats, especially with very hot cookware.

Placemats are a great option for kids and anyone prone to spills.

• Silicone and plastic placemats are easy to wipe clean and often feature suction or non-slip designs to stay in place.
• They help catch crumbs, spills, and food, making cleanup simpler.

Some placemats even have fun designs that make mealtime more enjoyable for little ones. Just check for dishwasher-safe or wipeable options for hassle-free maintenance.

Storing placemats is easy and helps keep them in good shape.

• Lay them flat in a drawer or cabinet to prevent bending or creasing.
• For fabric placemats, you can stack or fold them neatly.
• Roll up flexible placemats, like silicone or vinyl, to save space.

Make sure placemats are clean and dry before storing to avoid stains or moisture damage. Keeping them organized also makes setting the table quicker and easier.
