Choosing the right marker depends on what you’re working on. Consider the surface—some markers are made for paper, while others work on glass, wood, or fabric.

• Tip type: Fine tips are great for detail, while brush or broad tips cover larger areas.
• Ink type: Water-based markers are ideal for crafts and easy cleanup, while permanent or alcohol-based markers are better for lasting designs.
• Color selection: Look for sets with a variety of colors if you want more creative options.

Always check the product details to match your needs before buying.

Many markers are designed for multiple surfaces, including glass and metal.

• Acrylic and oil-based markers often work well on non-porous surfaces like glass, metal, and ceramics.
• For best results, make sure the surface is clean and dry before applying the marker.
• Some markers may require a sealing spray to help your design last longer, especially if the item will be handled frequently.

Always review the packaging or product description to confirm compatibility with your chosen surface.

Proper storage can help your markers last longer and perform better.

• Keep markers capped tightly when not in use to prevent drying out.
• Store horizontally—especially for dual-tip or brush markers—to keep ink evenly distributed.
• Avoid exposing markers to extreme heat or cold, as temperature changes can affect ink flow.

Consider using a storage case or organizer to keep your markers sorted and easy to find for your next project.

Bleeding can happen with certain markers, especially those with wet or alcohol-based ink.

• Use thicker or specialty paper designed for markers to help prevent bleed-through.
• Place a scrap sheet underneath your work to protect surfaces.
• Try layering color lightly and letting each layer dry before adding more.

Checking the marker’s product details can also help you find options labeled as ‘no bleed’ or ‘quick dry’ for better results.

Many markers are formulated to be non-toxic and safe for children, but it’s important to check the packaging or product description for safety certifications.

• Look for markers labeled as ‘washable’ or ‘non-toxic’ for younger users.
• Supervise kids during use, especially with permanent or specialty markers.
• Always follow the manufacturer’s age recommendations and safety instructions.

If you’re shopping for classroom or group activities, choosing markers specifically designed for kids is a good idea.
