Patriots Patch(50)

All three attach differently, so the best pick depends on your fabric and how you’ll use the patch.

• Iron-on: Has heat-activated adhesive on the back. It’s quick for cotton and denim and works well for low- to medium-wear spots. Some synthetic fabrics may not bond as well or can be heat-sensitive.
• Sew-on: No adhesive—requires stitching. It’s versatile, durable, and a solid choice for backpacks, outerwear, and high-friction areas.
• Hook-and-loop: One side sticks to the panel; the other stays on the patch. It’s removable and great for caps, bags, and uniforms with loop panels.

You’ll also see embroidered (textile) and PVC (rubber-like) styles. Embroidered feels classic; PVC is flexible and easy to wipe clean. Always check the product details for backing type and fabric compatibility.

A careful setup can help the patch bond while protecting your garment.

1. Check labels: Confirm your fabric tolerates heat and review the patch’s instructions for temperature and timing.
2. Preheat and prep: Set iron to the recommended setting (often no steam). Place the patch, then cover it with a thin press cloth.
3. Press, don’t slide: Apply firm, even pressure for the suggested time. Let it cool, then press from the inside of the garment if recommended.
4. Test the bond: Gently lift an edge. If it lifts, repeat in short increments.

For delicate or synthetic fabrics, a sew-on patch or lower heat with extra pressing time can be gentler. Results can vary by fabric and adhesive, so testing on a small area is helpful.

Yes—just match the backing to the surface and wear level.

• Hats: Curved surfaces do better with smaller patches. Iron-on can work on cotton caps, but use a press cloth and moderate heat. Sew-on offers a long-lasting hold on most cap fabrics.
• Backpacks/bags: Many are nylon or polyester. Iron-on adhesives may not bond well and high heat can damage the fabric. Sew-on is typically the most secure option for high-wear gear.
• Hook-and-loop: Great if the hat or bag has a loop panel. It’s removable and easy to swap designs.

Check the product page for backing type, size, and any fabric guidance. When in doubt, a hand or machine stitch around the edge adds durability.

Care depends on the patch type and your fabric, but gentle handling helps.

• Turn inside out: This can reduce abrasion on embroidered edges.
• Cold, gentle cycle: Lower temperatures and mild detergent may help preserve adhesives and stitching.
• Air dry when possible: High heat can weaken iron-on glue. If you use a dryer, choose low heat.
• Secure edges: For sewn patches, check stitches occasionally. For iron-on, re-press briefly with a cloth if edges lift.
• Hook-and-loop patches: Close the hook side or remove the patch before washing to prevent snagging.

Always follow any care notes on the garment and the patch. Some items may be better spot-cleaned to maintain the look over time.

Some blank hat patches (often faux leather) are designed for laser engraving, while others are not. To get a clean result:

• Confirm compatibility: Look for product details that mention “laser engraving” or “engrave-ready” materials.
• Engrave before applying: Working on a flat patch first can improve accuracy, then attach via heat or stitching per the patch’s instructions.
• Run a test: Use a small area or an extra patch to dial in your machine’s settings.
• Mind adhesives: If the patch has adhesive backing, follow the maker’s guidance to avoid residue during engraving.

Always follow your engraver’s safety guidelines and ventilation requirements. For ordering and delivery options, check the product page for pickup or shipping availability.
