Choosing the right size container depends on what you plan to store. For small snacks or sauces, containers around 2 to 4 ounces work well. If you're meal prepping or storing leftovers, 16 to 32 ounce options offer more space. For bulk pantry items like flour or sugar, larger containers—over 100 ounces—can help keep everything organized. Consider how much food you usually store and how much space you have in your fridge or pantry. Mixing different sizes in a set can give you flexibility for a variety of uses.

Many ounce containers are designed to be microwave-safe, but it's important to check the packaging or product details for confirmation. Look for labels indicating microwave compatibility and always remove lids or vent them before heating to prevent pressure build-up. Glass containers generally handle heat well, while some plastics are made specifically for reheating food. Avoid microwaving containers that aren't clearly marked as microwave-safe to help prevent warping or melting.

Most ounce containers can be cleaned easily with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge. Many are also dishwasher-safe—just check the product details to be sure. For tough stains or lingering odors, try soaking the container in a mixture of baking soda and water before washing. Make sure containers are completely dry before storing to help prevent odors or mold. Avoid using abrasive scrubbers, as they can scratch the surface and make cleaning harder over time.

Many ounce containers come with tight-fitting or airtight lids, making them suitable for storing liquids like soups, sauces, or dressings. For best results, choose containers labeled as leak-resistant or leakproof. Always check that the lid is securely fastened before transporting liquids. If you're packing liquids for on-the-go use, consider placing the container upright in your bag to help prevent spills. Glass and certain plastics are both good options for liquid storage.

Ounce containers are a great tool for meal prep. Their variety of sizes lets you portion out meals, snacks, or ingredients ahead of time, making it easier to stay organized during the week. Airtight lids help keep food fresh, and stackable designs save space in your fridge or pantry. Using clear containers also lets you quickly see what's inside, so you can grab what you need without opening multiple lids. They're handy for both home and on-the-go meals.
