Stormproof matches are designed to stay lit even in wet or windy conditions, making them ideal for camping or emergencies. Regular matches may not ignite if exposed to moisture or strong winds. Stormproof options often come with waterproof cases and extra strikers for added reliability. If you’re planning outdoor adventures or want a dependable fire starter for your emergency kit, stormproof matches can offer extra peace of mind compared to standard household matches.

To refill a permanent match lighter, first ensure it’s cool and away from open flames. Unscrew the match stick from the case, then carefully add lighter fluid to the reservoir—usually a few drops are enough. Avoid overfilling to prevent leaks. Once filled, reassemble and let it sit upright for a few minutes so the wick absorbs the fluid. Always use the recommended fuel type and follow the included instructions for best results and safety.

Many fire starters, like utility lighters and safety matches, can be used indoors for lighting candles, fireplaces, or grills. However, permanent match lighters and stormproof matches are primarily designed for outdoor or emergency use. Always follow the safety instructions provided with your product, keep away from children, and use in well-ventilated areas. Never strike matches near flammable materials or leave them unattended after lighting.

For a successful campfire, consider packing:

• Waterproof or stormproof matches in a sealed container
• A permanent match lighter or utility lighter as backup
• Fire starters like waxed tinder cords or kindling
• An extra striker in case one wears out

Having multiple fire-starting tools can help you adapt to changing weather or damp conditions. Always check local fire regulations before starting a campfire and fully extinguish it before leaving your site.

Store matches and lighters in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Use waterproof containers or cases to prevent moisture damage, especially if you’re camping or keeping them in an emergency kit. Keep all fire-starting tools out of reach of children and never store them near flammable materials. Proper storage helps maintain their reliability and ensures safe use when you need them most.
