Choosing the right size locking pliers depends on the job you're tackling.

• Smaller pliers (around 5 inches) are great for tight spaces and delicate tasks.
• Medium sizes (6.5 to 7 inches) offer versatility for general repairs.
• Larger pliers (9 to 10 inches) provide extra leverage for tougher jobs.

Think about the materials you'll be working with and how much grip strength you need. If you're unsure, a set with multiple sizes can cover a range of tasks and help you stay prepared for different projects.

Curved jaw locking pliers are designed to grip rounded objects like pipes or bolts, while straight jaw pliers work best for flat surfaces and edges.

• Curved jaws offer a strong hold on irregular shapes.
• Straight jaws provide stability for sheet metal or flat stock.

Having both types in your toolbox can make it easier to handle a variety of repairs and maintenance jobs around the house or garage.

Locking pliers are often used in welding to hold materials together securely.

• They can clamp metal pieces in place while you work.
• C-clamp locking pliers are especially handy for flat surfaces.

Just make sure the pliers are made from durable materials and are rated for the heat and stress of welding. Always follow safety guidelines and wear protective gear when working with welding equipment.

To maintain your locking pliers,

• Clean them after each use to remove dirt and debris.
• Apply a light oil to the moving parts to prevent rust.
• Store them in a dry place or a pouch to avoid moisture exposure.

Regular maintenance can help extend the life of your tools and keep them working smoothly for all your projects.

Some locking pliers sets offer replacement parts like springs or adjustment screws, but availability can vary.

• Check the product packaging or manufacturer’s website for details.
• Walmart’s customer service can help you find compatible parts or suggest solutions if something breaks.

Keeping your tools in good condition may reduce the need for replacements, but support is available if you need it.
