Choosing the right size lock box depends on what you plan to store. Here are a few tips to help you decide:

• List your items: Gather documents, electronics, or valuables you want to secure and estimate the total space needed.
• Consider future needs: If you expect to add more items later, opt for a slightly larger box.
• Check dimensions: Compare the internal measurements of the lock box to the size of your largest item, like a laptop or folder.
• Think about placement: Make sure the box fits where you want to keep it, such as a closet, drawer, or under a desk.

Several features can enhance the security of a lock box:

• Locking mechanism: Digital keypads, combination locks, or biometric (fingerprint) access offer different levels of convenience and security.
• Material strength: Look for boxes made from steel or other sturdy materials to resist tampering.
• Fire and water resistance: Some lock boxes have added protection for important documents in case of emergencies.
• Alarm systems: Certain models include alarms that activate if the box is moved or tampered with.

Choosing a box with these features can help keep your valuables safer.

Many lock boxes are designed to be portable and can be used for travel. Here’s what to keep in mind:

• Size and weight: Choose a compact, lightweight model if you’ll be carrying it in luggage or a car.
• Portability features: Some boxes have handles, removable chains, or steel cables for added convenience and security on the go.
• Water resistance: If you’re traveling to humid or wet locations, a water-resistant box can help protect your items.

Always check airline or travel regulations before bringing a lock box on a plane or into certain venues.

Resetting the code on a lock box usually involves these general steps:

1. Open the lock box using your current code or key.
2. Locate the reset button or lever inside (often near the locking mechanism).
3. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to set a new code—this may involve holding the button and entering your new combination.
4. Test the new code several times before closing the box.

Always refer to the user manual for your specific model, as steps can vary. If you’ve lost the manual, many manufacturers offer guides online.

Keeping your lock box organized makes it easier to find what you need quickly. Here are some tips:

• Use folders or pouches: Store documents in labeled folders or envelopes to keep them tidy.
• Separate valuables: Use small containers or soft linings for jewelry, electronics, or cash to prevent scratches and tangling.
• Adjustable shelves: If your box has shelves, arrange them to fit larger items like laptops or binders.
• Make an inventory list: Keep a written or digital list of what’s inside for quick reference.
